Recipes for Cranberries
OK, I’m talking some killer cranberry recipes in this round up! I’ve created all of them. And, most all are made with fresh delicious healthy cranberries!
Just Cranberries
Eating just cranberries isn’t really possible. Yes, I reckon you could munch and bite on those little balls of tart love, but, hey, with just some extra ingredients and preparation, you’ll be loving them!
Fresh Cranberry Recipes
Fresh holiday cranberry recipes are usually quite simple and easy. You can eat cranberries raw, after washing and cleaning well. I put them in the food processor and grind them into a really nice mixture that can be used in a variety of ways. Of course, always lots of sugar to take the exceptionally tart bite away!
Whole Cranberries
If I do buy canned cranberries, I usually purchase the whole cranberries for my cranberry recipes. That’s because I just like the texture as well as the added health boost. I’ve used the regular ‘cranberry’ canned sauce in things like a cake, but not usually as one of my cranberry side dishes. That’s because this collection of cranberry recipes I have for you are truly easy and quick. So why not err on the side of healthier.
Bags of Cranberries
Bags of cranberries can be frozen. So when you first see them in the grocery store, you might want to pick up a few and freeze them for year-round use. I love having fresh cranberry jam for even a roasted chicken dinner in March! And, it might be really challenging to find cranberries in the middle of June or July!
Cranberry Cookies
If you haven’t tried cranberry cookies, well, I’ve got a holiday cranberry recipe for you! I even made these cookies gluten free. But, if you want to use regular flour, no problem. The cranberries are pulsed in that food processor and you have flicks of the tartness in the yummy cookie!
Cranberry Dessert Recipes
Cranberry dessert recipes abound. Try making a simple fresh cranberry jam. Here’re the simple steps to make a reduction sauce of cranberry sauce or jam. This will be perfect for so many things sweet or savory!
- Pulse of fresh clean cranberries in a food processor.
- Put in a sauce pan with about 1.5 cups of pineapple or orange juice. Or you can get daring, and add a 12 oz. bottle of a holiday IPA beer!
- Add the juice/zest of one lemon.
- Add about three-fourths cup of sugar. Keep tasting for your desired level of sweetness.
- A pinch of salt.
- Bring to steady boil for about 10 minutes (lid askew). Reduce to a low simmering boil (uncovered and stirring occasionally) for another about 5 to 7 minutes (timing can vary). Let the sauce thicken reducing by about one-third to a half. Turn off heat. Cover. And, let it sit for about 5 minutes.
- Store in canning jars and refrigerate.
Dried Cranberries Recipes
And, lest we not forget that dried cranberries can be used in so many recipes! From salads to toppings for yogurt, ice cream, cake, cereal and more. When all else fails, throw in some dried cranberries to your coleslaw, sweet potatoes, butternut squash and more, It adds a gorgeous pop of color, texture and taste!

The era of Inlet Living is over. Saying goodbye to a home of 34 years isn`t sad because we`re taking with us all of our fabulous memories. Raising kids. Ours wasn`t an impulsive decision. It was calculated and deliberate. Facing life realities sometimes is really tough, but as we all age, we must look at what`s best for not only us but also our loved ones. I wouldn`t have left cleaning out this home--purging, discarding beloved momentos, donating, selling--to anyone but us. And, for those who`ve done it, you know it`s arduous, physically exhausting, incredibly stressful, and mentally and emotionally draining. Thank goodness 🙏 we`re doing it while we can. We make the choices and decisions. No one else. If you think a time like this will never come for you, think again. If you live long enough, it will. We all age. Change is inevitable. We all must adapt. We all cross these life thresholds. Embrace these things with open eyes and a peaceful heart, knowing that they are parts of the privilege of aging. The granddaughters are loving the huge "gymnasium" feel of a home they`ve spent endless hours in❤️ If you agree with these thoughts, leave me a purple 💜 heart in the COMMENTS. Do you save your bacon drippings? YES leave a red ❤️ heart in the COMMENTS! Perfect for geavy, seasoning greens (collards, Kale, Chard, etc.), browning a chuck roast and more. Ya`ll, it`s "free" and extends your bacon budget. Saves you money. Flavors food. Good stuff! Growing up in Appalachia (yes, souther WV), bacon drippings were saved in cans (like coffee). You can refrigerate. But coal mining families usually left those drippings on their stove top. I LOVE bacon drippings!

Glimmers of hope! It`s coming together. This art was in our previous home, but it never seemed as beautiful as it does in the new home. The mezzanine gallery is such a cool feature of this home. So, what do you want to see next? Kitchen? Leave your choice in the COMMENTS! Thank you ALL for all of the well wishes and love and blessings. This is a huge change of life for us in our 70s and 80s and we are so glad we`ve done it. We`ve purged. We`ve given to our kids their "stuff" that we`ve kept for 30+ years. We`ve decode to lighten our burden of life.

The first house we looked at. The only house we looked at. Yet, in 10 minutes, we can be in the thick of chaos! Isn`t it nice to have no "noise" other than mostly what God created. Birds. Wind. Weather. Water trickling. Rustling trees. And more. I really think this helps contribute to longevity and health because it`s less stress. Any thoughts on that above statement. I love when you engage and share because we all can be inspired and learn from each other ❤️

There`s no stopping now! Feeling more like home. And, we know that all of our hard work with this move is a "gift" to our children because they don`t have to deal with cleaning out a home lived in for 34+ years😂🤣😅. I`m starting to get special items in this new home, which is basically all on one level (yeeeehawww, for safery and latter years lifestyle), that makes it more like "ours." Our moving team used exceptional TLC to move two irreplaceable pieces. An antique pastry table with a heavy old Carrara marble slab top. And, an 18th-century secretary that comes in two large pieces. The top has hand carved pegs that sit into grooves on the bottom piece that provide for stability. Today`s furniture sure isn`t made like yesterday`s treasures. We`re mixing the old with the new. Whatcha think? Do you like the eclectic old/new decor? Leave a pink 💗 if you do, and I`ll share more with you 💗 I`m working on my kitchen, too! And, pantry! And, it`s no easy task with organizing and planning. Met today with the amazing kitchen designer, Justin, from Prodigy Kitchens and Baths. A few tweaks are needed to the design of this kitchen to make it more of a work horse kitchen for me. Progress being made. Both homes are in total disarray. So it`s a bit stressful 😬 not knowing where something is. But, this too shall pass.

34 years in this home. Today was kinda emotional 😢 The best time to part with your longtime home (just my humble opinion), as in clean it out and par down, is while you`re of sound mind and body. I mean, do it if you can while you`re healthy, of sound mind and able to orchestrate it yourself. Leaving a long-time family home, filled with so much of your life and DNA, isn`t easy. It`s exceptionally stressful physically and emotionally. But Pop and I decided the best gift we could give our children and family was to tidy up and get it done. And, that`s what we`re doing. We filled the large moving truck twice with furniture, antiques, artwork, home goods, yard art, outdoor furniture, vintage clothing, and more. All of it is going to auction. Our move is in several stages over weeks. Each day, we have a laundry list of to-dos. Our first goal was to find our new home, which we did in about 5 weeks. Then, we strategized the "master plan" from that point, and that is happening now. The big thing we must remember is patience and kindness with each other and keeping ourselves healthy. I can tell you this. We`ve worked non-stop, 10+ hours, since we closed on our new home 7 days ago. And, everything on my body is sore! Even my toenails and fingernails! This, too, shall pass! 🫠
