The Associate Degree Nursing Program (ADN) was established in 1966 with the goal to produce a well-rounded nurse who is able to think critically, make appropriate decisions, communicate effectively and function as a member of a health team in providing holistic care to culturally diverse clients.

The mission of EFSC nursing programs is to provide accessible, quality education to a diverse group of students for all levels of nursing from PCA to BSN. EFSC nursing programs prepare students to meet individual and community needs while providing quality patient care and modeling civic and ethical behaviors.

Upon successful completion of this program, the student will receive a Nursing RN Associate in Science (A.S.) degree and will be eligible to take the national examination for licensure as a Registered Nurse (NCLEX-RN).

Nursing RN A.S. COURSE CURRICULUM

The Associate in Science Degree Nursing program offers this traditional two-year program, explained in this web section, and also a 13-month Transition to RN program, which awards advanced standing in the A.S. degree program for qualifiedFlorida Licensed Practical Nurses, Paramedics and registered/certified Respiratory Therapists.

Innovative technology such as the Human Patient Simulator and interactive labs are incorporated within the program. Clinical experiences that emphasize the development of critical thinking skills and involvement in the community are other key aspects of the program.

Nursing RN A.S. Admissions Information

EFSC’s Associate Degree Nursing program is limited access and has a specialized application and selection process. Core courses begin each Fall Term (August) and each Spring Term (January).

  1. Meet with a Health Sciences advisor to review program requirements and the selection process. The Nursing RN program is guided by selection guidelines. Discussing this with a health science advisor before you apply is recommended as part of the process.
  2. Apply for Admission: Interested students must review and complete the customized Nursing RN Application Process. Completed application files are due by the deadline.

Content focuses on conception through the post-partum period and care of the neonate and children through adolescence.
